Course outline:

The Independent Regulatory Board for Auditors (IRBA) released its 2023/2024 Annual Enforcement Report on 4 June 2025.  The report reflects a substantial increase in enforcement activity, confirming its resolute commitment to upholding the integrity of the auditing profession.

The IRBA urges all registered auditors and audit firms to engage with the findings of this report, reflect on the lessons, and strengthen their commitment to ethical, high-quality audit practices.

This session will unpack the in-depth review of the IRBA’s enforcement efforts, key trends in auditor conduct, common compliance failures and the regulatory actions taken to uphold public confidence in the profession and the audit product, and how an auditor can take action to prevent the same types of findings in their respective firm.
