This course focuses on IPSAS 29 and IPSAS 41 – Financial Instruments, with specific emphasis on the application of hedge accounting under IPSAS 41. Hedge accounting is an alternative accounting model that seeks to reflect risk management activities more faithfully in the financial statements. However, it is widely regarded as one of the most complex areas of financial reporting.

For many learners, hedge accounting can be particularly challenging, especially where there is limited practical exposure to its application. This course is therefore designed to build understanding from the ground up.

The purpose of the course is to lay a strong foundation by explaining the key definitions, core concepts, principles, and accounting treatment related to hedge accounting. By the end of the course, learners should have a clear conceptual framework that enables them to understand how hedge accounting works and how it is applied in practice under IPSAS 41.
